Spent seven hours as a zine vendor today at a public zine and printed matter festival in Durham, NC. I also was selling postcards with my photographic images on them. The postcards were popular at 2.00, three for 5.00. Sold a few zines, bringing in enough money to fund the next zine run. I think my prices were appropriate for the work, and did not effect the number of sales.
It was fun talking with people, explaining my work and process, and I received a great deal of positive reaction to my photography, even though a great deal of it came from people who purchased nothing. It was an encouraging experience all around to keep doing what I am doing. It was helpful to me that my wife, Kitty, was there with me the whole time, lending moral support.
It was an overall positive experience and I would do it again. I still have zines for sale, and readers are welcome to contact me if interested. Thanks all.
Cheers!

Congratulations on the sales. It’s not easy these days. My recently published online zine is very slow in sales. But i also don’t advertise it much ๐
